John Edwards Coverup
TODAY SHOW, January 22, 2010: NBC's Senior Investigative Correspondent Lisa Myers uncovers the coverup. This story aired one day after John Edwards' first public admission of paternity that was made on the Today Show. In this story, Myers presents the first television report explaining the details of how Edwards' extramarital affair and child were concealed from voters while he was running for president. The story reported the key role and questionable acts of campaign aide Andrew Young. Much of this story was later retold in a North Carolina federal court when Edwards faced charges of violating election laws by allegedly using campaign donations to hide his affair. Myers and Austin covered the entire trial, which ultimately resulted in Edwards' acquittal on one count and a mistrial on all other counts. Producer and Co-Writer: Michael Austin.
